Becoming a nurse practitioner in America gave me the financial freedom to give back to my family, travel often, and enjoy my life while doing what I love to do, which is to help patients.
Mentoring nurse practitioner students to become the best nurse practitioner they can be has always been my joy and passion.
I remember the struggles I had as a student and new grad nurse practitioner, especially as a foreign-trained nurse, and I want to help others to feel confident and build a successful and fulfilling career.
Studying in the U.S. has always been Miki's dream since she was little after hearing from her father, who studied in the U.S. After working as a registered nurse in Japan for 2 years, Miki moved to Hawaii to attend a nurse practitioner program in Hawaii. Despite the language barrier, she graduated as a valedictorian (you can watch her speech below). She obtained a U.S. permanent residency through employment as a nurse practitioner. Miki has provided women's health and primary care to a diverse population in Hawaii for the last 10 years. Miki is also a preceptor training expert and as well as a passionate preceptor for nurse practitioner students from the University of Hawaii. In 2024, Miki was selected for the State Award for Excellent for Hawaii by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, the largest nurse practitioner organization in the U.S.
Miki wishes to help nurses achieve their dream of building a successful nurse practitioner career and get the freedom of choice in their lives.
