I worked really hard to earn good grades in my nurse practitioner program and graduated at the top of my class. But after graduation, I felt lost, because there was no clear guidance on how to start a career as an NP.
My NP school never taught me how to job hunt, so I tried different methods on my own and made a lot of mistakes, like when my employer asked me how much I wanted to get paid, and I said, "I don't know" (worst response ever, by the way!).
Being a new grad NP was even more challenging because I didn’t have an NP to mentor me. I lost confidence in myself and even doubted if I was truly suitable for this profession...but after the difficult and lonely first 6 months as a new grad NP, I started to figure out how to build a strong NP career.
When I saw other NP students struggling with the same issue, I decided to teach them my tried-and-tested real-life methods. Now, they can start their careers without stress and actually enjoy being an NP.
Despite being a foreign-trained nurse, I'm living my best life and have even won multiple awards, including the State Award for Excellence from the American Association of Nurse Practitioners, while traveling around the world every quarter.
